by Nita Schiro-Montgomery County Master Gardener
The spring season has officially arrived, and we have the pollen to prove it! This year your friends at the Montgomery County Master Gardener Association have been working to bring you some beautiful plants, so don’t miss out.
The sale is this Saturday, March 18th from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. Come early to hear the program presentation at 8:00 am by Michael Potter, Horticulture Agent.
Although the weather has been unpredictable lately, you can be sure to find just what you need to inspire that spring garden – whether you are planting vegetables, flowers, fruits and berries or trees. Come early for the best selection of your favorites.
We plan to have vegetables and herbs galore. Choose from six varieties of basil, six varieties of mint, over twenty different sweet and hot peppers plants, and a huge selection of tomatoes. Check out the complete list on our website: www.mcmga.com.
Are you hoping to attract hummingbirds to your garden, or just looking forward to their arrival this spring like I am? Sightings are coming in from Journey North (https://www.learner.org/jnorth/) that hummingbirds could be in our area soon. Be ready for their and make sure they stop at your place after their long flight. You are sure to grab their attention by planting a few favorite nectar plants such as the Cigar plant (Cuphea), Salvias, Winecup or Beebalm.
We will again be selling Mexican avocados – the Opal and Fantastic varieties. If you are looking for berries and citrus, look no further as we will have muscadine grapes, blueberries, Meyer lemons, Mexican limes and much, much more.
The location of the sale is the Texas AgriLife Extension, 9020 Airport Road in Conroe, 77303.
